High school boys hockey playoffs continue today

By Howie Hanson, Twin Ports Sports Hub

It’s Semifinal Saturday for Section 7AA and 7A high school boys hockey teams, with all four games played in the same barn.

7AA teams will tee it up first, as top-seeded Andover faces Elk-River at noon and defending champion Duluth East looks for a third straight win of the season against traditional rival Cloquet at 2 p.m.

Then it’s showtime for the 7A teams, as top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Hermantown plays heavy underdog Virginia at 6 p.m. and Greenway looks to fend off upset-minded Duluth Denfeld at 8 p.m.

The 7A final will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the 7AA championship at 7 p.m. Thursday.

All 7AA and 7A semifinal and championship games will be played at Amsoil Arena, and all but today’s Andover-Elk River game will be broadcast live by 92.1 FM The Fan (Brian Prudhomme play-by-play, Topher Davis color). Games will also be livestreamed live, here.
