DULUTH, Minn.-This weeks feature is on a player that did some. serious damage earlier this week in the Duluth Huskies’ 11-5 win over La Crosse. With two guys on the corners, ready to go, Max Guzman stepped into the box and crushed a three-run homer off Loggers’ Colin Shreves to give the Huskies a six run lead in the bottom of the 5th. The catcher and first baseman is currently batting .284 with 31 hits in 32 games including 4 home runs and 20 RBI.
This past spring at Faulkner University, the Miami native lead his team with a batting average of .366 with 75 hits in 59 games including 19 home runs and 79 RBI with a slugging percentage of .663. Guzman also received the SSAC gold glove honors with his. perfect fielding percentage through 384 putouts, topping the NAIA. His coach at Faulkner, Patrick McCarthy, described him as “one of the Best players to ever play at Faulkner.”
