MIRAGE STATE BOUND
VIRGINIA, Minn.- The Proctor/Hermantown Mirage defeated the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers 3-1 in Wednesday night’s section 7A girls hockey final.
The Hilltoppers’ Victoria Thorson attacked first scoring in the 11th minute of the first period heading into the intermission on top. But the Mirage found their groove in that second period scoring all three goals within minutes of each other through 5-on-3 power plays. Alyssa Watkins, Braelyn Sathers and Ella Anick notched the three goals for the Mirage. Ryan Gray was in net for Proctor/Hermantown with 24 saves on 25 shots on goal.
The Mirage now advance to the state tournament for the second consecutive year. They are set to play on February 20th at 8pm at the XCEL Energy Center against Rochester Lourdes.
