Huskies rout Mankato MoonDogs

The Duluth Huskies banged out 17 hits and received a strong starting pitching performance in a 9-4 victory over the Mankato MoonDogs in a Northwoods League college wood-bat game Sunday afternoon at historic Wade Stadium in West Duluth.

Augie Isaacson had three hits for Duluth (8-5), and starter Hayden Shenefield scattered four hits in seven innings to collect the pitching victory. Six other Huskies recorded two hits apiece.

Duluth, which has won seven of its last 10 games, and Mankato (8-5) meet again at 6:35 p.m. Monday at Wade.

Huskies’ Notebook

Outfielder Tor Sehnert (Coastal Carolina) is 7-for-14 (.500) with three RBIs in his first three games, and infielder Nicholas Sogard (Loyola Marymount) is 8-for-18 (.444) in four games. Sogard is averaging one run scored per game. The Huskies boast a team .289 batting average and 4.96 team ERA.
